I’m writing on behalf of the LAMNS Steering Committee to catch you up on some developments with Libraries, Archives & Museums Nova Scotia (LAMNS). We are gaining some momentum with the establishment of various working groups focused on shared interests including One Place to Look and Shared Storage. You can find details about these working groups on the LAM NS website. Along with these working groups, the One Book Nova Scotia Terms of Reference have been expanded to include museums and archives as well as student representation. We are excited at the prospect of further enhancing this long running, successful program with diverse perspectives and ideas. We are also looking for opportunities to build upon the success of the Historical Newspapers Online with future projects.
In addition, we are presently seeking leadership (individual or shared) for the Research Support Group. Lou Duggan was the founder of this group and we wish to honour his vision by continuing this valuable opportunity for members from across archives, libraries and museums to come together to build a community of practice. We welcome expressions of interest for this leadership role. With the establishment of LAMNS since this original group was formed, we hope to see this carry forward in an expanded fashion to be inclusive of all of our sectors. In your expression of interest, please include the following information and send to andrea.stewart@nscc.ca:
- Contact information, including institutional affiliation and brief biographical details
- Describe your interest in leading this initiative
Next steps for LAMNS is to focus attention on updating the existing website to give it a fresh new look and create a more engaging space. We welcome your ideas and suggestions for a new and improved website.

Co-Chair, LAM NS
