Libraries Nova Scotia has been in a period of re-imagining with a focus on reorganizing and rebranding as a newly established steering committee consisting of representation from the library, archives and museum sectors. The new group has now been officially formed and is composed of one representative from each of the following organizations/associations:
• Association of Nova Scotia Museums (ANSM)
• Council of Nova Scotia Archives (CNSA)
• Council of Regional Librarians (CORL)
• Novanet
• Nova Scotia Archives (NSA)
• Nova Scotia Provincial Library (NSPL)
• Nova Scotia Museum (NSM)
As is indicated in the Terms of Reference, the Chair and Vice Chair of the steering committee will serve two year terms and represent two different sectors so as to reflect the diversity of the membership. At the inaugural meeting Andrea Stewart (Novanet) and Anita Price (ANSM) were named as co-chairs.
The initial focus of this group is on establishing a Terms of Reference and solidifying the mission, vision and values that best reflects our identity, partnership and shared goals. The work of clarifying our purpose and objectives takes into account the valuable feedback that was received through previous consultations including the ALM Conference session on ‘Reimagining Libraries Nova Scotia for the Future’. Following on this, we will work on naming and branding as well as building a website as part of our commitment to establish efficient means of communication and engagement. We are excited to embark on this work and look forward to an innovative and successful partnership.
Stay tuned!
Andrea Stewart
